What is 70 Volt?

70V systems are the standard choice for multi-speaker commercial installs. Unlike 8-ohm systems, 70V lets you mix and match ceiling speakers, wall speakers, and subwoofers — all wired in parallel — without worrying about impedance. Each speaker has a tap selector (e.g., 1.5W, 3W, 5W, 10W) that limits how much power it draws, giving you full zone-by-zone customization. 70V also supports very long speaker wire runs without signal loss, making it ideal for large spaces. With 1,000W on tap, the RCS1000-6 can handle up to ~50 speakers tapped at 20W each, or any combination totaling under 900W (the recommended 90% threshold).
